So you scanned a QR code from a section that talked about the risks of scanning QR codes.

Well we may forgive you as its probably from our communications, but criminals will sneak QR codes in to documents that look exactly like what you would normally receive.

Actually landing on a page like this may not result in an infection (if your machine is up-to-date and secure), but its best not to take the risk. Following a link often encourages you to follow the next link and the next, resulting in a dangerous event.

As QR codes open usually on a phone, this is a serious problem as phones are not always as protected as PCs and may be out of support sometimes within a year of purchase.

The most important thing is if you ever follow any link (including a QR code) that you don’t trust the resultant landing page unless you are absolutely sure you should be going there.
